Food & Coats for Fees a Success

A total of $3540.18 waived

The library's 2024 Food & Coats for Fees drive was a success with over $3,500 waived for our patrons, not to mention the number of coats and food collected to help those in need during this time.  Totals for each location were as follows:

Enon - 12 patrons, $286.28 waived

Houston - 7 patrons, $428.28 waived

Main - 27 patrons, $1, 279.98 waived

Park - 13 patrons, $599.72 waived

Southgate - 14 patrons, $875 waived

Tuttle - 1 patron, $70.92 waived

15 large boxes of food items were collected along with 70-80 coats!  The food and coats were distributed to families and attendees of the Haitian Independence Day Celebration at our Southgate Branch on January 4th.  Among the recipients was a retired veteran who was very appreciative and stated that the food he received will get him through the end of the month.  The coats were also much appreciated, especially during this time of year.

What we had in food leftover was donated to Second Harvest Food Bank and amounted to 516 pounds of food.  And the remaining 8-10 coats were donated to St. Vincent de Paul.

Thanks to all who donated to help make this a successful program!
