Session 1: Beginning Vocal Lessons - April 9th at 6:30 PM
Learn about your voice and the basic exercises to develop a strong, consistent voice. We'll cover the fundamentals of singing and how to breathe when singing. Warming up the voice is important to not damage your vocal chords and using practice well is primary. You will learn how to choose songs that are right for your voice. Discover how to choose songs that best showcase your voice. We'll have time for questions.
Session 2: Voice Training - April 23rd at 6:30 PM
Build upon basic vocal technique to be an informed singer and sharpen up your vocal skills. Learn to control your voice so that you know how you will sound to not have a random sound dependent upon how you feel that day. We'll cover vocal technique, singing the scales, vocal workouts, importance of consistent practice, microphone technique, and important aspects for singers to understand for auditioning. We'll have time for questions.
Session 3: Voice Development - May 7th at 6:30 PM
In this session, we'll learn how to find your range and develop your personal style. We'll learn how to create a personalized book of your chosen repertoire. Learn how to choose keys that suit your voice in your range and how to transpose songs to your key. Explore your personal style and how to make songs your own. Learn how to incorporate the artistry of singing. Help overcome barriers to singing and learn to resolve performance anxiety. We'll have time for questions.
Your instructor, Trish Mairet is a Jazz vocalist teaching vocal students for 20 years. Trish has a natural ability for seeing what each student needs to be successful. She has studied voice at the Conservatory of Music in Berkeley, CA, Jazz appreciation and Vocal Repertoire at Santa Rosa Junior College, Santa Rosa, CA. She also studied voice technique and improvisation with Rhiannon, Jazz vocal artist and collaborator with Bobby McFerrin and instructor at Berkeley College of Music, NY, and Jazz Vocal development with Suzanne Pittson, MA Assistant Professor of Vocal Studies at City College of New York.
