Gifted to the library in 1971 by Mr. Charles Kemp of South Charleston, Ohio, the collection consists of 28 original, hand-colored lithographs, depicting scenes and battles of the Civil War. The lithographs were created between 1861 and 1863. A complete list of all of the Currier & Ives Civil War prints made (including prints not in our collection) can be found in Currier & Ives Chronicles of America, available in the library’s collection.
Through the generous gifts of Patricia Yanucci and Garnett McDonough, the Clark County Public Library is pleased to be able to place these pieces on display for the community to learn from and enjoy for years to come.
The Currier & Ives collection is accessible 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 pm. on Fridays at the Main Library.
